Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do I have to be an expert? I'm afraid I'm not good enough.
There is little expectation that beginning players will win many games. If you enjoy playing, winning will not be as important as learning and having fun. We welcome all playing levels. Come join us--the more the merrier. Opportunities for improving your game are always available, such as using our starter word sheet. And, of course, the more you play, the more proficient you will be. -
What dictionary do you use?
As all Scrabble® Clubs in the U.S. do, we use the Official Scrabble® Player's Dictionary, available at book and game stores. The Official Word List book is available through the National Scrabble® Association to its members only. -
What should I expect at the Scrabble® Club?
The atmosphere is friendly and encouraging to new players. You will be matched with opponents for one-on-one play (as often as possible with players of like ability). We strongly encourage using a timer. This enables us to play several (4+) games each session and helps facilitate player matchups. Also expect occasional parties, door prizes, informal Scrabble® get-togethers, and for those wishing more competition, enjoyable and challenging tournaments. -
Who usually comes?
You will find bright, interesting, helpful people, men and women from all over the Denver Metro area, who, like you, love the game of Scrabble®. -
What should I bring?
If you have a Deluxe Scrabble® game you can bring it, but it is usually not necessary. Just come and enjoy.
Where To Play In The Denver Area
